History
Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller and is headquartered in Americus Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta.
To-date, Habitat has built over 500,000 homes worldwide. There are more than 1,800 local affiliates in the United States and over 550 in other countries dedicated to the Habitat mission. Habitat International is well established and ranks in the top 20 of the leading 400 nonprofits nationwide.
Habitat for Humanity of Hendricks County is one of the affiliates, separate from the Greater Indianapolis Habitat. Our coverage area includes only the Hendricks County limits. We build in all towns throughout the county, whenever and wherever we can acquire land that is reasonably priced. It is also a consideration that the land we build on be located in town, primarily due to utility restrictions in the outer, more rural areas.
