Is Habitat for Humanity of Hendricks County funded by the government?

No. All of our funding comes from local sources: individuals, corporations, churches and civic organizations. If government funds are received by the affiliates, they are made available through the State support affiliate or Habitat International programs.

Is the Hendricks County Habitat for Humanity part of Greater Indianapolis Habitat?

No. Habitat for Humanity of Hendricks County serves all of Hendricks County and the towns within the county limits. Greater Indianapolis serves Marion County only. We seek Hendricks County resources and support Hendricks County partners.

What is Habitat for Humanity of Hendricks County’s overhead?

Our affiliate’s operating costs are approximately 18%, with the remainder going directly to the Christian mission we serve.

Is my donation to Habitat for Humanity of Hendricks County tax deductible?

Yes. We are a 501-c3 nonprofit organization. With your contributions, you receive a tax receipt and thank you.

Does Habitat give away its homes to families?

No. Habitat for Humanity is a program that requires commitment from our partner families. Qualified Habitat families agree to perform 400 hours of “sweat equity” in helping to build their home, in addition to completing a homeownership education course.

Can I donate a lot to Habitat?

Yes! Our biggest need is for the acquisition of affordable lots on which to build our homes. Lots and land are also tax deductible.
